September 17 – October 8 People and Places of the Bible with Rick Dykema
Rick continues our study of the scriptures with a closer look at the Book of Acts. Learn more about Paul’s ministry and the early Christian church. Insights from Rick’s travels in Turkey will be included.
October 15 – Justice for our Neighbors with Lara Rampersad
Since 2004, Justice for Our Neighbors has provided affordable, high quality legal services and advocacy to needy immigrants in Michigan. Come hear how local churches are assisting with this effort, and are seeking to promote more just immigration policies.
October 22 – Social Justice: A Personal Perspective with Rev. Tracey Taylor-Kunst
Explore what social justice means in the United Church of Christ, and from the perspective of former Ada Church staff member, Reverend Tracey Taylor-Kunst.
October 29 & November 5 – “Growth Mindset” with Becky and Brian Telzerow
We are pleased to have the Telzerows return and continue the conversation on “Grow Mindset.” Adults and teens will appreciate their presentation on this topic.
November 12 – All Church Fall Tea hosted by Lottie Svoboda Guild
The Lottie Svoboda Guild invites everyone to a special tea hour between the services. Enjoy homemade treats and a time of fellowship. Meets in Fellowship Hall.
November 19 – “That’s My Story” with Kevin Collins
Lifelong member of Ada CC, Kevin, shares personal stories of growing up in Ada and attending our church.
November 26 – 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with Rebecca Riekse
Ever wonder what Protestants “protested” or what exactly we “reformed”? Rebecca commemorates the anniversary of Martin Luther’s Reformation with a brief church history lesson and examination of the changes that evolved.
December 3 – All Church: Lottie Guild Cookie Drive and Advent Wreath Making
Enter the Advent season with rich holiday spirit. Stop by the Fellowship Hall at 9:45 to assemble cookie packages or create a family Advent wreath. Supplies for the wreath are provided. All ages welcome!
December 10 – All Church: Card and Ornament Making
All ages are invited to create personal notes to be shared with friends at Pilgrim Manor during the holidays. Ornament making stations will also be hosted by the Christian Education Board in the Fellowship Hall.
December 17, 24, 31 – No Adult Sunday School Class
January 7 – Epiphany Celebration
Begin 2018 with the exciting tradition of King’s Cakes and well wishes for the new year. Activities and treats are available in the Fellowship Hall during the 9:45 hour.
January 14 & 21 – “Beyond Resistance” Book Discussion
Here’s your chance to join the discussion focused on the book everyone in church is reading! Stop by the Welcome Center or see Liz Ruehrdanz to get your own copy.
Women’s Bible Study
Join us for the first fall meeting on Friday, September 15, in the church parlor. We meet on Fridays with coffee and conversation at 9:45 AM, Prayer concerns at 10:00, and Bible study 10:15-11:30. Will provide childcare if needed. Contact Liz Ruehrdanz, 616-540-7301.
Ada Congregational Book Club
This group reads and discusses a wide variety of best-selling and thought-provoking works over great coffee and pastries. The club meets the second Wednesday of every month at 1:00 P.M. in the church parlor (from October through June). Our first meeting will take place Oct. 11 at 1:00; in the church parlor, please bring an appetizer to share. Call Judy Bialk for further information – 803-1101.
